A big landscaping job makes more debris than people expect. Branches, brush, old sod, ripped-out shrubs, and the dirt under all of it. Renting a dumpster for the length of the project beats stacking it by the curb and making a dozen trips to the dump in the back of a pickup.
A pile grows faster than you think
When you clear a yard, the volume adds up quick. A row of overgrown hedges plus a dead tree and a season of storm limbs is bigger than it looks once it's all loose and loaded. Having a container in the driveway means you load as you go instead of letting it sit in a heap the whole street has to look at. The 13-yard handles most home landscaping. If you're clearing a big lot or taking out a lot of growth, step up to the 17-yard.
Brush and dirt are two different loads
This is the one rule worth knowing before you book. Branches, brush, leaves, and pulled shrubs are light and bulky, so they go in a 13 or a 17. Dirt, sod, and rock are heavy and dense, and they hit the weight limit long before they fill a big container, so they go in the 7-yard, which is built low and rated for it. If your project has both, the move is to rent one of each. There's a small upside too: clean dirt and sod in the 7-yard go to the recycle plant instead of the landfill.
Where the dumpster sits
For most landscaping work the driveway is the easiest spot, close to where you're cutting and digging. If you'd rather have it on the side yard or closer to the back where the work is, tell us when you book and we'll sort out placement. You don't need to be home for the drop or the pickup.
Take your time, or swap it out
Landscaping rarely wraps up in a day. You get a weekend, then it rains, then you get another weekend. Rentals run anywhere from one day to 30 days, so there's no clock pushing you. On a bigger clearing job, if you fill the can before you're done, give us a call and we'll swap the full one for an empty one so you can keep going.
Storm cleanup around Charleston
A lot of the heavy yard work here comes after weather. One storm drops limbs across the whole property and you've got days of cleanup ahead of you. A dumpster on site for that is the difference between handling it once and dragging brush to the curb for two weeks hoping it gets picked up. We're based on James Island and cover Charleston and the towns around it.
Picking a size
If you already know the scope, go ahead and pick from all our dumpster sizes and book online in a couple of minutes. If you're standing in the yard and honestly can't tell whether it's a 13 or a 17, call or text (843) 800-0689 and we'll talk it through. Tony answers his own phone, seven days a week.
